A Nottinghamshire born artist graduating with a first class honours degree in fine art, B.A. art history, and Master of Education.  He has served in the military, civil service, and has taught in adult and secondary education before realizing his ambition as a professional painter.

He loves exploring the power of grey's and ambiguous line to create atmosphere and realism and is influenced by the Romantics, the passion of the Victorian painters, and the fluid drawings of Bastien-LePage.

Bernie takes elements from the Flemish and French Academy, with innovations of his own, to produce outstanding and engaging work.  His innate appreciation of form is echoed in copious figure drawings and paintings where his use of line and brushwork are full of knowledge and feeling.

Bernie is also a highly qualified art educationist, producing material for teaching and learning in colleges and other learning organisations.

Bernie is represented by the Bridgegate Gallery, London, and is a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
