Back to basics.
Drawing surface. I bought a flawless sheet of plyboard – no warping, dents, or heavy scratches – 18mm x 60cm x 90 cm (¾. x 24 x 36 inches). Sandpapered one side smooth and applied one coat 50:50 mix of turpentine and wood varnish followed by another three coats of varnish between drying and sanding for an unblemished surface. Placed the drawing board and paper on the easel, so two thirds of paper height, is at eye level. Fixed 120cm x 90cm ( 48 x 36 inches )...
